Twin Lakes Park near Greensburg is a practical choice when some people want to fish and others would rather walk beside the water. The Upper and Lower Lakes offer a shared destination for both activities, with designated fishing decks and paths that help you plan a manageable outing.

Find the accessible fishing decks on the county map

The county park page identifies three fishing decks among its accessible facilities. Before driving, open the official park map and locate the accessible fishing-deck symbols, walkways, parking and comfort stations. The map distinguishes the Upper and Lower Lakes, so agree on a specific meeting point with your group.

Choose your parking around the approach to the deck you intend to use. If a short or step-free route is essential, ask park staff about the current approach and any temporary obstruction. Leave room around other anglers, keep gear out of the walking route and allow space behind you before casting.

Bring fishing gear; leave your private boat at home

Private boats, canoes and kayaks are prohibited on both lakes. The county lists rental boats at the Lower Lake Boathouse as a separate service. Confirm rental hours and availability directly before building a trip around them; seasonal operations can differ from general park hours.

For a shore-fishing visit, a compact tackle bag and one manageable rod setup make it easier to move between approved spots. Plan around your group’s experience: a relaxed session with breaks is often easier to share than an outing that requires everyone to stay in one place for hours. Follow current Pennsylvania fishing rules and license requirements, along with posted county park rules.

Add a lake walk without committing everyone to the whole route

The county describes a figure-eight walkway around both lakes totaling 2.5 miles. You can use the map to choose a shorter portion and return the way you came. Decide on the turnaround point before separating from anyone who is fishing.

A useful group plan is to start together, identify the fishing location and set a meeting time before walkers leave. Carry your own water and keep a light layer handy. Wet leaves, changing weather and an unexpectedly slow pace are good reasons to shorten the walk.

Directions, hours and the right entrance

For the lakes, the county’s GPS address is 219 Twin Lakes Road, Latrobe, PA 15650. Its separate Peach Plaza expansion has a different address. General park hours are 9:00 a.m. to dusk. Contact Westmoreland County Parks and Recreation at 724-830-3950 for access questions and current notices.

Save the map before traveling and check which lake your chosen parking serves. Give yourself time to pack up and return to the vehicle before closing. Take tangled fishing line home or use the collection containers provided.

Compare two nearby lake-fishing options

For designated spillway fishing and electric-boat access, see the Keystone Lake fishing guide. If bringing your own boat is central to the day, compare the Donegal Lake launch guide before choosing your destination.
