The small visitor-information stop long known locally as the “Fact Shack” is part of Tahquamenon Falls State Park’s education program at 41382 West M-123 in Paradise. The current Michigan DNR listing focuses on education services and park information rather than fixed building hours, so use it as a planning contact instead of assuming a staffed visitor center will always be open.
Start With the Two Falls Areas
Tahquamenon Falls State Park protects nearly 50,000 acres along the Tahquamenon River. The Upper Falls is more than 200 feet across and drops about 50 feet; tannins from upstream wetlands give the water its distinctive amber-brown color. The Lower Falls is a series of smaller cascades downstream. Each area has its own parking and trail network, so confirm which entrance fits your plans before navigating.
The River Trail connects the Upper and Lower falls for experienced hikers, but it is a substantial backcountry route rather than a short overlook walk. Carry water, allow enough daylight and arrange transportation if you do not plan an out-and-back hike.
