Use the correct approach road
The current Wisconsin Lakes boating directory labels the site “Muskellunge Lake – Access off Muskie Landing Road.” The detailed DNR access record gives more specific routing: the launch is at the end of Boat Landing Road, reached from Balsam Lane off Highway G. It explicitly says the launch cannot be accessed from Timbering Haven Drive.

Ramp, dock and parking
DNR’s facility sheet lists a one-lane paved ramp with a 9% slope and water deeper than 3 feet at the launch. Arrive ready to stage efficiently and avoid blocking the single lane while loading gear or securing a boat.
The facility record is dated March 24, 2017, while the current Wisconsin Lakes directory still lists this as the lake’s public landing. Treat individual measurements and amenity counts as planning guidance, then inspect the ramp, water level and posted signs before backing in.
Accessibility
The 2017 DNR inspection identifies designated accessible parking and says both the boarding dock and route of travel to it were ADA accessible in July 2012. That is stronger access information than many small Northwoods launches provide, but conditions can change. Visitors who depend on those features should confirm the current dock installation and route condition with the Vilas County Forestry, Recreation and Land Department before traveling.
Slow-no-wake and water-skiing hours
The official Town of Cloverland boating ordinance requires motor-driven boats to operate at slow-no-wake speed from 6 p.m. through 9 a.m. local time. Water skiing and similar towing activities are limited to 9 a.m.–6 p.m. The current DNR ordinance directory continues to categorize the rule under slow-no-wake hours and water-skiing restrictions.
Read every sign at the landing before launching. Wisconsin DNR cautions that ordinance databases can lag behind local changes, making the posted landing notice the best final check.
Fishing Muskellunge Lake
The Wisconsin Lakes overview lists Muskellunge Lake at 270 acres with a maximum depth of 19 feet and low water clarity. Musky, panfish, northern pike and walleye are listed as common, while largemouth bass are present.
Review the current fishing-regulation page before keeping fish. In the 2026–27 season summary, muskellunge have a 40-inch minimum length and a daily bag limit of one, while species-specific seasons and limits apply to bass, pike, panfish and walleye. Carry the required Wisconsin license and check for updates or emergency rules.
Facilities and safety
